Old Tabs: Part 10

I had a long break because of life happening. But I’m back!

My habit of keeping interesting things open in tabs on my mobile is still WAY out of hand. So I’m challenging myself to blog them as I close them down. 10 a day. This is part 10. You can call it part 1 of season 2 if you like.

1. Clicks ‘n clacks

https://newsletter.clicksnclacks.com/p/nov-23-2024-00

This is a new newsletter with links to “awesome internet stuff” and then keyboard-related things. Worth a sign up?

2. Block Editor Navigator WordPress Plugin

https://krasenslavov.com/plugins/block-editor-navigator/

This is a WordPress plugin that was sent to me as an idea for something to implement in Turbo Admin. It lets you navigate to next/previous posts/pages when you are editing a post/page. There’s also a search. Neat!

3. Coding Font by Typogram

https://www.codingfont.com

A quiz that helps you find out what your favourite coding font should be.

Mine seems to be Roboto Mono!

4. Handwriting but not typewriting leads to widespread brain connectivity: a high-density EEG study with implications for the classroom

https://www.openread.academy/en/paper/reading?corpusId=503252214

A study into whether taking handwritten notes is better than taking digital notes for memory and recollection. I can’t remember where I found this, but it chimes with some of what was said in The Vergecast the other week.

5. Cursify

https://cursify.vercel.app

A open-source animated cusor component built with React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and Framer Motion. Neat!

6. Nag Me Not

https://ourwpplugins.com/nag-me-not/

WordPress plugin attempting to hide all your notices. Interesting in that there is a browser extension version too!

7. Meet the coffee-loving gut bacteria: ZOE study

https://zoe.com/learn/coffee-gut-bacteria-zoe-study

Brief write up of a Zoe scientific study into the benefits of coffee (including decaff) on the gut microbiome.

The conclusion:

It’s now clear that coffee can support your health, so if you enjoy a cup, you certainly don’t need to consider it a guilty pleasure.

Yay!

8. Wave.video

https://wave.video

Interesting and useful-looking web-based video editor tool recommended by Nathan Wrigley of WP Builds.

9. Continue and Persist letter

https://continueandpersist.org

A positive alternative to a cease and desist letter.

A official-looking legal letter that encourages and uplifts people, one that tells people to keep doing what they’re doing! Surprise someone you appreciate by sending them a Continue and Persist Letter.

They claim they will actually print and send it for you too (if you’re in the US).

Can I be a UK franchise of this? I think it’s BRILLIANT!!!

10. Communication Structures in a Growing Organization – Jessitron

https://jessitron.com/2024/11/24/communication-structures-in-a-growing-organization/

Jessica Kerr has some great insights. This one is about different company communication styles and how they apply to different sized businesses.

Great stuff!!
